Conversions

Convert a gas bike to electric. Conversions are certified by LVVTA so continue to be road legal. You won’t have to buy any more petrol (or engine parts), but WOFs and licensing (rego) continue.

The process and costs depend on bike and user requirements. More mass, more power, more range = more cost.

A “cheap” conversion would be a bike of simple design (nothing too modern) with low power and low range requirements (think small commuter, or scooter-ish). Best case with minimal fabrication and simple parts fitment could be under NZ$10k.

Here are pictures from a (very) small bike conversion.
